Description

This is a terrace of four houses, numbered 1 to 4 Myrtle Place, built in 1868 as accommodation for executives and overseers within the Saltaire model village, designed by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt. The houses are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof.

Each house is two storeys high, with two bays, although number 1 has a further two bays set back on its right-hand side, originally intended to house two separate dwellings. The end houses have gables, though the gable coping and brackets have been lost from number 1. The entrances and ground-floor windows are round-arched and archivolted. The first-floor windows are square-headed, with the exception of number 4 which features a triple window with round-arched lights, and number 1, which has paired round-arched lights. Shaped stone brackets are present on the gutter. The right gable end of number 1 features a three-light canted bay window on the ground floor and paired round-arched windows on the first floor.

The houses are listed for their group value as part of the wider Saltaire model village.
