Description
Ghyll Fold Farmhouse, located on Gill Lane in Lower Esholt, is a two-storey and attic hall that dates back to the late 17th century. It underwent alterations and restoration in the late 19th or early 20th century. The building is constructed of large coursed gritstone and features a stone slate roof. It has gabled wings and a flush center, with saddlestones on the gables that include carved finials and stone gutter spouts. The windows consist of two and three light chamfered and square mullioned designs with drip moulds on the wings, while the center has been remodeled to include mullioned windows that match the style. The east side and south elevation also feature chamfered mullioned windows with drip moulds. To the west, there is a low wing that is one storey high towards the yard and two storeys to the west due to the sloping ground, which includes one chamfered mullion window, several square mullioned windows, and a doorway with squared jambs.
