Description

A late 17th-century farmhouse, with an early 18th-century addition, now divided into two dwellings. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed squared sandstone with quoins, and has a stone slate roof. Originally a three-unit lobby-entry plan, with one unit added to the right-hand side. The original part of the house is two storeys high and seven bays wide. A doorway, positioned between the second and third bays, features a chamfered surround and a large rectangular lintel. There are three double-chamfered mullioned windows on each floor, each containing four panes within two relatively wide lights. A ridge chimney is located in line with the door, and gable chimneys and copings are present. The addition to the right-hand side is two storeys high and slightly lower. It has a single two-light window on each floor, with flat-faced flush mullions and a gable coping. The left-hand gable wall (of No 6) includes a single-storey gabled porch with chamfered Tudor-arched outer and inner doorways, stone side benches, a studded oak studded door with strap hinges. A single-storey dairy is located at the rear. The interior of No 7 retains two rectangular stone fireplaces with chamfered surrounds.
