Description
West Mount is a house, now used as offices, built around 1840, with an attached wall. The building features ashlar stone with a rendered right side. The roof is not visible. It is designed in the Classical Revival style, characterized by a plinth, corner pilasters, a first-floor band, a cornice, and a blocking course. The structure has two storeys and a three-window range of plain sash windows. The central bay projects and is flanked by giant Ionic columns in antis, surrounding a single window. Below this, there is a moulded doorcase with decorative paterae and a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight. Each side of the entrance has a single window. Inside, there is a saucer-domed stairwell featuring a spiral stone staircase with cast-iron balusters and a newel post. The hallway and ground floor room are adorned with enriched cornices and pilasters.
