Description

The Walkley War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1922. It is made of Creetown granite and features lead lettering. The memorial is situated outside St Mary’s Church and consists of a wheel-headed cross adorned with a wreath. This cross stands on a tapering square plinth that rests on a single stepped base. The front of the plinth displays lead lettering that reads "IN MEMORY OF/WALKLEY HEROES/1914 – 1919/1939 – 1945." The memorial is positioned on a raised site at the corner of the church.
