Description

This is a pair of gate piers located approximately 60 metres to the north-east of the north pavilion of Wentworth Woodhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They are made of ashlar sandstone. The outer piers are square in shape and feature plinths and cornices, with the left pier constructed from single blocks that are now slightly displaced. The attached inner piers each have a protective bollard, a sunken panel, and a moulded band beneath a flattened-scroll bracket. These gate piers are included for their group value.
