13/11 Gate piers

GV II

Pair of gate piers. C19. Sandstone ashlar and vermiculated sandstone. 2 piers on plinths, approximately 3 metres high. Vermiculated long and short quoins form alternate bands of rustication on each face. Band of raised Greek key moulding at impost level beneath frieze carved with swags. Cornices with flat caps. Piers form an entrance to the former park of Brompton Hall (qv).
