Description
This is a 19th-century milepost located approximately 350 metres east of the junction with Warren Vale. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth from Liversedge and is constructed from cast iron, fixed onto a sandstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel indicates the destinations of Brampton Bierlow and Hooton Roberts Road in Swinton. The left side lists Barnsley at 11¾ miles and Wentworth at 4 miles, while the right side shows Doncaster at 10 miles, Conisborough at 5 miles, and Hooton Roberts at 2¾ miles.
