Description
This barn, located immediately to the west of Sunny Bank Farmhouse, is likely from the early 17th century. It is constructed of red rubble sandstone and features a pantile roof. The barn is tall and single-storey, consisting of four bays, with some large quoins. There is a flat-arched cart entrance in the third bay, which has a lean-to outshut on its left side and triangular slit vents on the right. At the rear, there is a door that opposes the cart entrance, along with other later openings. Inside, the barn has a steeply-pitched roof supported by principal-rafter trusses, wind-braced purlins, and common rafters that are halved and pegged at the apex. A lower addition to the left return is not of special interest.
