Description
Chapel House, originally a Methodist Chapel, is a house dated 1843, with a later porch and wing added around 1900. It is constructed of horizontally-tooled, coursed sandstone and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is one storey high and has three bays, with a two-storey wing at the rear right. The central entrance features a double, panelled door and a fanlight with radial glazing bars, all enclosed within a later 19th-century ashlar porch. This porch has a pilastered and open-pedimented surround, leading to a cavetto-moulded and rusticated round-arched opening with a large keystone. The flanking windows have renewed casements set in tall, square-faced surrounds with projecting sills. Above the porch is a plaque with some of the inscription chiselled off, but it still retains the words: 'ERECTED JULY / 1843'. The building features shaped kneelers and ashlar gable copings. The left return of the building has a wing in brick, except for bricks with commemorative initials, while the right return has a wing faced in stone. The interior is not of special interest.
