Description
This barn, located approximately 25 metres north of Brancliffe Grange Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with stone slate eaves courses and a pantile roof. The barn is two storeys high and has seven bays, featuring large quoins. There is a central waggon entrance with full-height boarded doors. The ground floor has slit vents, some of which are now blocked. On the first floor, there are two square hatches on the left with wooden surrounds, and a similar hatch beneath the eaves on the right. At the rear, there is an opposed waggon entrance with a door and a window opening to its right. On the left side, a ground-floor door has a surround with plinth blocks, impost blocks, and a segmentally-arched soffit to the lintel, along with a small window in the gable and a weathervane. The interior has not been fully inspected, but the roof features collared principal-rafter trusses.
