Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres north of Mappleyard Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th to early 18th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a stone slate eaves course leading to a pantile roof. The barn is partly two storeys high and consists of six internal bays. It has large quoins and a significant waggon entrance in the fourth bay, which includes boarded doors and a wooden lintel. To the far right, there is another door with a wooden lintel, along with triangular vents. On the left side, there is a door and an inserted window, with a window and hatch above. The left gable has a shaped kneeler, although the copings have been removed. The rear of the barn has a similar waggon entry and triangular vents.
Inside, the barn features principal-rafter trusses, double purlins, and a ridge-beam. There are attached farm buildings nearby, but they are not of special interest.
