Description
This barn, located approximately 20 metres to the north-east of Wellingley Grange Farmhouse, is likely from the late 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble magnesian limestone and features a stone slate eaves course beneath a pantile roof. The barn is two storeys high and has 8 to 9 bays. A large waggon entrance is positioned to the left of the centre and has a segmental brick arch with a boarded hatch above it. There are three slit vents arranged vertically on the left side, and the right side has altered ground-floor openings beneath two hatch openings, both with segmental brick arches, one of which has been enlarged into a doorway. The roof is hipped, and the right return has been rebuilt in 19th-century brickwork. Inside, the barn features pattern-book king-post trusses. This building is included for its group value.
