Description

The Garden House, located approximately 90 metres to the north-east of the Doric Temple, is a small garden house built in the mid to late 18th century for the Wentworth estate. It features a facade of sandstone ashlar, with coursed, squared sandstone used elsewhere, and is topped with a stone slate roof. The structure is single-storey and includes a niche with an impost band leading to a keyed round arch. The cornice returns are designed to conceal the monoclinal roof.

Inside, there is a curved stone seat in the niche beneath a semi-domed vault. The Garden House overlooks the Rockingham Mausoleum and was noted to be in danger of collapse at the time of the last survey.
