Description
This is a barn and granary located at Riddings Farm, immediately to the north-west of Lily Hall, dated 1781. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond and has a sheet asbestos roof. The building is two storeys tall and consists of two sections with a total of five bays, featuring a three-bay barn on the western side.
On the north side, there is a basket-arched doorway positioned to the right of the centre, flanked by later openings. To the left of the doorway, there is another door with a window beside it, both having segmentally-arched heads. The first floor includes a segmentally-arched window on the left, with a stone ledge supporting a smaller window above it. The barn section to the right features two hatches and three decorative vents located beneath the eaves. The eaves are dentilled, and there are shaped kneelers and ashlar gable copings.
At the rear, external steps lead up to the granary, which has a doorway to the barn on the left and a segmentally-arched door leading to the landing of the steps, along with cruciform vents.
Inside, the structure has collared principal-rafter trusses, and there is a tie-beam soffit over the granary inscribed with the date 'TW 1781'.
