Description
This building is a combination farm structure located approximately 30 metres north of Wood End, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of orange-red brick in English garden wall bond, with a pantile roof. The building features a three-bay barn on the left side and a three-bay cartshed, with an entrance between them leading to a staircase that ascends to a granary situated above the cartshed. There is a pent-roofed addition on the right that is not of special interest.
The barn has a central bay that slightly projects under an extended roof, featuring double board cart doors with a wooden lintel situated below a header-brick course. On either side of this bay, there are three tiers of paired vents, with paired slit vents located below square vents arranged in a lozenge pattern. To the right, there is a segmental archway leading to an internal stone stair.
The cartshed consists of three segmental arches, separated by circular brick piers with stone imposts. Above the central arch, there is a board granary door flanked by small four-pane windows, all of which are topped with segmental header-brick arches. The structure has dentilled eaves and a hipped roof. At the rear, the barn features an opposing winnowing door and windows to the left. The left return of the barn has three tiers of paired slit vents.
Inside, there is a board door and wide floorboards leading to the granary, which is supported by three collared principal rafter roof trusses. A 20th-century shelter is attached to the rear but is not included in this listing.
