Description

Throstle Nest is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century addition and later alterations. It features pinkish-brown brick in a Flemish garden wall bond and has a pantile roof. The garden front is two storeys high with two bays, and an added bay set back on the right. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with an overlight, flanked by 16-pane sash windows on each floor, all of which have flat brick arches and stone sills. The eaves are dentilled, and there are end stacks. The added bay includes a pent-roofed ground-floor extension with an 8-pane side-sliding sash window, while the first floor has a 20th-century window under a segmental brick arch, with a central stack set forward of the ridge.

On the rear, the right-hand part has a blocked doorway with a window to the left, both under flat brick arches, and another doorway to the right. There is an inserted window between the doorways and two more on the first floor, with dentilled eaves. A straight joint separates this from the left bay, which has an inserted doorway on the left of a segmental-arched window on each floor. The left return features a small 12-pane side-sliding sash in the gable apex. Outbuildings attached to the left are not of special interest.
