Description
The building is a barn and granary located 20 yards south west of Gatehouse Farm House. It dates from the 16th century and has had alterations made in the 20th century. The structure features an exposed timber frame on brick and rendered plinths, with plain tiled roofs that are hipped over the granary. The barn is situated to the south, with the granary attached to the north east corner, and there are further buildings to the north.
The barn is rectangular and consists of four framed bays, with three leaded casement windows. It has a catslide roof on either side of a gabled entrance bay that includes full height double doors. Inside, there is a concrete floor, Queen strut trusses with braced posts below, wind bracing to the roof, and it is aisled on the west side.
The granary has a gable front facing north and contains three framed bays running north-south. It is two storeys high with a stack at the south end. On the first floor, there are two wood framed leaded casement windows on the left and a stable style door on the right, which is accessed by a flight of external stairs. The ground floor features doubled garage doors on the left.
There is also a further barn to the north, which has three bays and leaded casement windows, with two located on the first floor. A pent roofed bay on the west side connects to a large barn that includes a stable style door.
