Description
A barn and granary dating to the 17th century, with alterations and extensions from the mid-19th century. The building is timber-framed with brick infill, brick replacement walling, and additions, and has plain tiled roofs. The original part comprises four bays, aligned east-west. It includes two wagon bays in the second and fourth bays from the west end, each with opposed cart entries and double doors. The timber framing consists of three panels from sill to wall-plate, along with some long rectangular panels. The building has collar and tie-beam trusses; the truss at the west end has three struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex, while the intermediate trusses have two struts to the collar. A three-bay brick addition extends from the east end, and a two-bay south return is present, with the southernmost bay being a wagon bay with opposed double doors. The walls have header ventilation courses. A four-bay stable range with a granary above adjoins the south gable end. The west elevation, facing the farmyard, features a shuttered window, a gabled dormer with a louvred opening, and two doors.
