Milepost. Dated 1736 repositioned c1980. Stone. Monolithic post with crudely-rounded top and flat faces inscribed with partly-obliterated, serifed lettering:

on south side, Barnsley/1736"; on east side, illegible on south side, (Pe) nist o(ne) on west side, illegible

The post was moved approx. 2 metres when the carriageway was realigned c1980.
