Description
The Hoyland Swain outbuilding range, located in the garden of number 355 on Barnsley Road, is a single-storey structure dating from the early to mid-19th century, with some alterations. It is built from coursed rubblestone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building consists of three cells. On the left side, there is a 20th-century window with a skylight above it, followed by a four-panel door and an old six-panel door, each accompanied by a two-light 20th-century window to the right. To the far right is a 20th-century part-glazed door. A short ridge stack is positioned between the right-hand cells. The rear of the building has four windows and an inserted sliding door on the left. Inside, the right-hand cell retains a hearth with bellows, which is a rare remnant of the nail-making industry that was once common in this area.
