Description
No. 6 Halifax Road is a house dated 1840, which may mark the rebuilding of an earlier structure. It is built from coursed, dressed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and stands two storeys high with one bay on the left and one on the right. It has large quoins and recessed, chamfered mullioned windows. The left bay includes a chamfered, quoined doorway topped with a Tudor-arched lintel. A hoodmould extends to the left as a dripmould over a four-light window, with a three-light window above it. The right gabled bay projects forward and contains a three-light window below a two-light window, both adorned with dripstones; a date plaque is situated in the gable. The house features large, shaped kneelers and chamfered gable copings with an apex finial. There is a brick ridge stack on the crosswing. On the right side, there is a single-storey porch with a door and gable details that match those at the front.
