Description
17 Tadcaster Road is a house that was originally three separate houses. The northern end dates from the 17th century and was raised and re-fronted in the late 18th century, while the southern end is from the early 18th century and was converted in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of narrow brick in Flemish bond and has a plain tile roof.
The exterior features two storeys, with a brick storey band and a dentil course at the eaves. The windows are glazing bar sashes, with three ground-floor windows on either side of the door, which has four panels. The ground-floor windows have segmental brick arches, except for the second window, which likely replaced the front door of what was formerly No. 13. On the first floor, there are three windows. The gables have brick copings and chimneys, and there is an intermediate coping and chimney aligned with a straight joint to the right of the second ground-floor window.
The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate the presence of stop-chamfered beams and a bressumer over a large fireplace, along with various 18th and 19th-century fireplaces.
