Description
64 and 66 Tadcaster Road is a farmhouse that was later divided into two houses. It dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th or early 19th century and in the 20th century. The exterior features painted render over brick and a steep slate roof. The building has two storeys and four bays, with a narrow string course and diagonally-set bricks at the eaves. The windows are glazing bar sashes. The left-hand bay has no window on the ground floor and has a doorway offset to the left, which is a late 19th or 20th-century door with four panels. The third bay contains a boarded and framed doorway to No. 64, which has a plain rectangular overlight. The gables are coped, and there is an axial stack on the ridge between the first and second bays, along with a gable stack on the right. The interior has not been inspected, but records indicate that No. 64 has an original staircase with turned balusters with knops, square newels, and a moulded handrail, while No. 66 features an early 19th-century staircase with stick balusters. Both houses retain 18th-century fireplaces and cupboards on the upper floors.
