Description
Cess Farmhouse is a farmhouse originally built as two houses in the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a thatched roof. The building was symmetrical when it was first built but has been altered in the 20th century. It stands two storeys high with a dormer attic and consists of six bays. Originally, there were two central panelled doors with timber surrounds, flanked by two window bays on each side, and at the ends, there were narrow windows that lit the winding staircases. Currently, it has been modified to feature a single door, which is the original door located to the right of centre. To the right of the door is a horned sash window, and to the left is a casement window, both dating from the 20th century. On the first floor, there are two casement windows. The gabled roof has two dormers under the thatch, which contain sash windows. There are internal gable end stacks, and the gable heads show tumbling. An additional storey and dormer attic have been added to the east, which includes one door and one window on the ground floor, both from the 20th century. The eastern gable stack has been rebuilt.
