Description
No. 17 The Green is a house and cottage that are now in single occupancy, with the northern section having once served as a shop. The cottage dates from the mid-18th century, while the house was built in the early 19th century. Both have undergone significant alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of whitewashed brick and thatch, with the 18th-century part located to the south. It is one storey high with a dormer attic, featuring a central door flanked by one early 20th-century casement window on each side. The gabled roof has two gabled dormers that are lit by casement windows. There is an internal stack at the south gable end. The 19th-century house to the north is two storeys tall and has three bays, with a central 20th-century door and early 20th-century casement windows. Above the door is a blind window. The gabled roof has an internal stack at the north gable end and a partly external stack on the south side. There is also a 20th-century single-storey gabled extension to the south of the 18th-century cottage, which is not included in the listing.
