Description
Numbers 52 and 54 and the Branch Library is a building that was originally a school, constructed in 1852 and later altered. It is made of brick in English bond and features a pantiled roof.
The library is located in a one-storey gabled cross-wing on the left side. It has two windows, each consisting of three lights and a transom, with geometrical glazing. At the top of the gable, there is a louvred ventilation opening, along with a circular recess below it. The entrance door, which is from the 20th century and partly glazed, is situated in the front wall of a lean-to against the left-hand return wall.
The two houses are set back to the right and consist of one storey plus attics. Number 54 has two bays with a central doorway. It features three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light dormers above, all with casements that have geometrical glazing. The door has six raised and fielded panels. Number 52, on the right, is one bay wide and has 20th-century casement windows on both the ground floor and the dormer. Its door and doorhood are also from the 20th century. There are ridge chimneys to the right and left of Number 54. The interior has not been inspected.
