Description

3 Monk Bar Court is a public house that has been converted into a house. It likely dates from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front section is constructed of orange-red and orange bricks in English garden-wall bond, featuring a brick dentil cornice and a timber doorcase. The rear is built from orange-brown brick in stretcher bond, topped with a pantile roof that has rebuilt brick stacks.

The building has two storeys and cellars, with a three-window front. Cellar openings are located on either side of the front steps. A double flight of steps leads to a right-of-centre entrance, which features a Tuscan doorcase with engaged fluted columns and a plain cornice. The door consists of six raised and fielded panels beneath a lozenge-patterned overlight. To the left of the entrance is a small two-pane sash window that has been inserted into an altered doorway. To the right, there is a 12-pane sash window, and at the far right, a part-glazed door is set beneath a flat brick arch behind a yard wall. The remaining windows are four-pane sashes with painted stone sills; those on the ground floor have segmental arches made of soldier bricks, while the first-floor windows feature painted lintels. The interior has not been inspected.
