Description
The Queen's Head Inn is a house that has been converted into a public house. It likely dates from the early to mid-19th century, although it has earlier origins and has undergone later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of reddish-yellow brick in Flemish bond, with a left range made of reddish-orange brick in English garden wall bond, and features pantile roofs.
The main part of the building is two storeys high and has three bays, while the left range is two storeys lower, with two first-floor windows and additional ranges at the rear. The main entrance is accessed by two steps and features a six-fielded-panel door with an overlight, set within a recessed surround that includes a doorcase with fluted pilasters, a cornice, and a hood. The ground floor has 16-pane sash windows under wedge lintels. On the first floor, the outer bays have unequally hung 12-pane sashes, while the middle bay has an unequally hung 9-pane sash, all under wedge lintels and with stone sills. There is a modillion eaves band along the top. The left range has a ground-floor 16-pane sash and two 4-pane casements on the first floor, which interrupt the modillion eaves band. The main range has end stacks.
