Description

This is a pair of houses, now serving as a shop and flats, built in 1845 and incorporating 18th-century brickwork at the rear. Number 2 is constructed of painted brick with a timber shopfront and a slate hipped roof, while Number 4 is made of orange-grey brick in English garden-wall bond, featuring a hipped pantile roof and brick stacks. Both houses have a moulded and modillioned timber cornice.

The rear of Number 4 is made of orange-red brick in English garden-wall bond. Number 2 has a two-storey, two-window front, and Number 4 has a three-storey, two-window front, with the right part being quadrant on plan and the left incorporating a through carriageway. The shopfront of Number 2 features incised panel jambs with a plate glass window and a glazed door, along with one-pane sash windows with painted stone sills on the first floor. Number 4 has a door with six raised and fielded panels beneath a divided overlight in the quadrant wall; the carriage arch has a flat lintel. The first and second floor windows of Number 4 are 12-pane sashes with painted stone sills and flat arches of brick, with those on the second floor masked by the cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
