Description

Milestone, probably early 19th century. This stone post stands approximately 0.75 metres high and features a triangular shape with a round-arched top. It has a cast-iron plaque with a raised inscription painted black against a white background. The east face reads: TADCASTER / 6 MILES / LEEDS / 20 MILES, while the west face states: YORK / 3½ MILES. The inscription around the head says: TADCASTER & HOBMOOR / ROAD / COPMANTHORPE.
