SE 81 NE BURTON UPON STATHER NORMAN BY ROAD (west side) Thealby 1/32 Stables/Dovecote and adjoining Cartshed and Stables approximately 50 metres north of Thealby Grange Farmhouse -

Stables/dovecote and cartshed. Early C19, with later C19 stable. Stable/ dovecote range in ironstone rubble with brick dressings and brick upper stage to dovecote. Cartshed has brick front and coursed ironstone rubble with brick dressings. Pantile roofs throughout. L-shaped on plan: 3-bay stable incorporating square dovecote, with 7-bay cartshed and stable range extending at right angles towards the farmhouse. Stable/dovecote range: low 2 storey section of 2 bays with third bay on right raised to full 2-storey dovecote. Quoins. 3 stable doors in segmental-arched opening, part-glazed with dove- holes below under a hipped roof with finial and C20 weather-vane. Cartshed: single storey, 6 round-headed arches supported on square piers, the 4 central openings with inserted plank doors and side panels. Range continues with later stables: 2 bays with 2 doors in brick surrounds. The remainder of this range, extending beyond the stable towards the house, is of no special interest.
