Description

No. 6 Main Street is an estate cottage built in the early to mid-19th century, with later 19th-century and around 1980 rear extensions and alterations. It was constructed for the Normanby Estate and features coursed ironstone rubble with brick dressings and stacks, topped with a concrete pantile roof. The cottage is a single storey with an attic and has three windows. It has quoins and a plank door located to the right of centre, accompanied by one 12-pane sliding sash window to the right and two to the left. All openings are framed with brick surrounds and have segmental arches. The building also has a dentilled brick eaves cornice, axial and end stacks, and an attic sliding sash window in the left gable. The cottage is included partly for its group value.
