Description
Avenue Cottage is a house built in the late 18th to early 19th century, with later alterations and additions at the rear. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble, featuring brick gables, dressings, and stacks, topped with a concrete pantile roof. The building has two storeys and is symmetrical, with two first-floor windows and a central painted dummy window. It has quoins and a central plank door beneath a rectangular three-pane overlight. The windows are 12-pane sliding sashes, all framed with brick surrounds and segmental brick arches. The windows also have plank shutters added around 1970. There are end stacks, and the right side of the house has re-used ashlar blocks for the upper right quoin, along with one 12-pane sliding sash and one casement window under segmental arches on the ground floor.
