Description

No. 5 Main Street is an estate cottage built in the late 18th to early 19th century, with later additions from the 19th century. It was constructed for the Normanby Estate and features coursed ironstone rubble with brick dressings and stacks, topped with a concrete pantile roof. The building is a single storey with an attic and has three windows. It has quoins, with earlier bricks used in the lower section. To the left of the center, there is a plank door, with one 12-pane sliding sash window to the left and two to the right. All openings are framed with brick surrounds and segmental arches. The cottage has a dentilled brick eaves cornice, axial and end stacks, and attic sliding sash windows in both gables. It is included partly for group value considerations.
