Description
This is a pair of houses located at 5 and 6 The Oval in Kingston upon Hull, built in 1907 by Runton & Barry for the Garden Village (Hull) Ltd. The houses are constructed of brick with a pebbledashed finish and feature hipped roofs covered with plain tiles, including two side wall stacks and a single ridge stack. They are two storeys high and have a four-window range. The windows are wooden-framed casements with leaded glazing.
At the center, there is a catslide roof that includes two four-light box dormers. Below this, there are two four-light windows flanked by single half-glazed doors. On either side of the central section, there are projecting hipped wings, each with a three-light window and below them, canted hipped wooden bay windows featuring seven lights. This building is part of a series designed by Runton & Barry for the initial phase of the Garden Village development.
