Description

A pair of houses dating from 1907-08, designed by Runton & Barry for the Garden Village (Hull) Ltd. The houses are constructed of brick with pebbledashed areas, and have plain tile roofs with two gable stacks and one ridge stack. They are two storeys with a four-window front. The windows are wooden casements, originally with leaded glazing, with those of number 10 now having plain glass. In the centre are a pair of projecting gables, each containing a two-storey canted bay window with a flat roof. Above the bays is a five-light window, and below a similar window with transoms. To either side of the gables, catslide roofs incorporate large gabled dormers with four-light windows. The ground floor features a half-glazed door flanked by shallow square bay windows with five lights. The left-hand door is sheltered by a shallow wooden porch with a glazed door and side and top lights. These houses are part of a group designed for the initial phase of the Garden Village development.
