Description
No. 44 Elm Avenue is a house built in 1909 by Runton & Barry for the Garden Village (Hull) Ltd. The building features brick construction with pebbledash, tile-hung gables, and plain tile roofs, along with single gable and side wall stacks. It is two storeys tall and has a T-plan layout with two bays. The windows are primarily wooden framed casements with glazing bars. The cross wing on the right side includes a four-light window and a canted hipped wooden bay window with six lights below it. On the left side, there is a catslide roof covering an open porch in the return angle, supported by a corner post, and featuring a segment-headed half-glazed door. The left return gable has similar window arrangements to the right gable, while the right return has a four-light casement on each floor. This house is part of a group designed by Runton & Barry for the initial phase of the Garden Village development.
