Description
SWANLAND WEST END SE 92 NE (south side) 6/57 No 5 and No 7 (Post Office) - II Single house. 1721 on datestone with later alterations. Red brick, pantiled roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Door of 6 raised and fielded panels, with overlight with Chippendale glazing, flanked to right and to left by sashes with glazing bars and boarded shutters. To the left is a C20 glazed and panelled door (perhaps replacing a service door) with datestone over: I L 1721 To far left is a 12-pane fixed window. First floor: 3 small 16-pane sashes with boarded shutters. Coved eaves, end and axial stacks, raised gable on brick kneelers to right. Against the front wall of this house is a large glacial erratic, one of three in this position in the Main Street. It may have been used as a mounting block, as has one of the others.
