Description

Church Farm and the attached outbuildings are a farmhouse dating from the mid 18th century, with later enlargements and alterations made in the mid 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features 20th-century concrete tile roofs, with three gable stacks. It is designed in an L-plan and stands two storeys high.

The south front has three bays, with a central six-panel door that includes a fanlight and is framed by a wooden pedimented door surround. On either side of the door are single canted bay windows, each containing three plain sashes. Above the door, there is a central plain sash flanked by tripartite casements that have segmental heads. To the left, there are attached single-storey outbuildings. The east front features an off-centre doorway with a plank door, a two-light sliding sash window to the left, and a canted bay window with plain sashes to the right. Above this, there are two two-light sliding sash windows.

Inside, the farmhouse boasts a fine mid 18th-century staircase that has a single flight and return, with two turned balusters with knops per tread and a moulded ramped handrail. The ground floor reception room on the east side has dado panelling and built-in cupboards. The first-floor bedroom on the west side features a fireplace in the 18th-century style, along with flanking round-headed cupboards. A similar 18th-century fireplace is found in the bedroom to the east. Throughout the building, there are good six-panel doors set within their surrounds.
