Description
The Fernery Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of brick, with the left side rendered, and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a two-room central entrance hall on the north front, with a kitchen wing at the rear right. It is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. The original entrance features a six-fielded-panel door beneath a cornice and an overlight with radial glazing bars in the reveal. The 19th-century doorcase is adorned with ornate consoles that support a cornice and hood. The windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes set in original flush wooden architraves, complete with sills and painted rubbed-brick flat arches. The eaves boards are plain wood, and the gables are stone-coped with shaped kneelers. The end stacks have been rebuilt in the 20th century and feature cornices. The interior has not been investigated.
