Description
This is a house located at 1 The Square in Stamford Bridge, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of brown brick and features a graduated slate roof and wrought iron details. The building has two storeys and a basement, presenting a symmetrical three-bay elevation. A flight of stone steps leads to the entrance, which has an openwork balustrade and handrails. The door consists of six raised and fielded panels and includes an overlight with glazing bars, set within panelled reveals and soffit. The pilastered doorcase is flanked on both sides by 16-pane sash windows with sills, all set under cambered gauged brick arches. On the first floor, there are three smaller sash windows of a similar style. The house has end stacks and raised coped gables supported by shaped kneelers.
