Description

The Bay Horse Inn is a public house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of brown brick with a flat clay tile roof. The building is two storeys and attics, with four bays and a continuous rear extension. A six-panel door is centrally positioned, sheltered by a pilastered doorcase and surmounted by a fanlight with radial glazing within panelled reveals and a soffit. Three four-pane sash windows are present on the ground floor, each under a slightly cambered gauged brick arch, and fitted with louvred shutters. The first floor has three similar sash windows. Chimneys with tumbled-in brickwork rise from the end and central gables. A section of an earlier, steeply-pitched gable is visible at the east end, indicating the possibility of incorporating remnants of an early 18th-century structure.
