Description
Warblington Lodge is a square house raised on a basement, built around 1830. It has symmetrical facades and is constructed of brick (some rendered), with a slate roof. The house has two storeys plus a semi-basement, and each facade originally featured three windows. The low-pitched slate roof has wide eaves with mutule blocks set against a plain fascia. The front (east) elevation has bow-shaped walls, a flat central section, and plain flat end pilasters. The brickwork is yellow and in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches, and a stone band to the plinth. Sashes are set within reveals. A Greek Doric porch, approached by five splayed steps, is situated at the centre; the columns are fluted in the upper part, and the architrave frames a fanlight with a diagonal pattern. The south elevation is rendered and features basement windows, and a central doorway with fanlight, with ½-glazed double doors opening onto a cast-iron balcony. A flight of cast-iron steps with decorative rails leads to the balcony. The north elevation is plain, with a central, recessed door leading to the basement. The west elevation has a tall staircase window and a service block, the basement of which projects outwards, with irregular windows and a trellis framework to its entrance.
