HAVANT Warblington CHURCH LANE. Warblington Castle Farmhouse.

16.5.52

GV II House on the east side of the former Castle courtyard, but mainly early C17, and faced with squared stones, from the ruined Tudor mansion. Stone, some brickwork, tile roof. The front (west) has two storeys and attic, five upper windows. Large half-hipped roof. Roughly coarsed stonework, first floor moulded dripmould, plinth, and altered openings in the lower wall (suggesting it may be part of the Castle). Casements. The main entrance is an early C19 yellow brick porch, with a gable, a stone lintel carved as a four-centred arch, arched side windows, plinth, and a new panelled door. The north gable is of brickwork in English bond, with bands at first and second floor levels, and attached tapered stack and old casements. The east elevation has a catslide roof, two hipped roofed dormers (to the attic) and a small cabled dormer (to the first floor), the rear stone walling supporting three roofs (two hipped and one gabled) with a large Gothic (C19) window.
