Description
St Werburgh's Presbytery is a presbytery built between 1835 and 1837, likely designed by M.E. Hadfield. It is an integral part of St Werburgh's Church, to which it is attached. The building features pink sandstone ashlar that is rusticated at the ground level, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It is two stories high and has a double-depth plan with two rooms and a central entrance hall. The facade is symmetrical with three window bays and includes a six-panelled door with a lozenge-shaped overlight set within an architrave that has incised panels. The former sash windows have all been renewed in their original openings. The left side of the building has an end stack that breaks the gable coping, along with blind window openings.
