Description
St Charles' Presbytery is a presbytery built in 1867, possibly designed by Nicholl. It features red brick construction with a squared coursed rubble ground floor and stone dressings, showcasing a rogue High Victorian Gothic style. The building stands four storeys high with a basement and culminates in a shaped gable. The narrow front is two windows wide, with a doorway on the right that has a shafted design and a cusped fanlight. To the left is a two-light mullioned sash window, both of which are set beneath stone lintels and red brick relieving arches. The upper floors have recessed sash windows under stone lintels, supported by shallow triple arch shelves. The right corner of the building is splayed on the top two floors, featuring a shafted and hooded panel inscribed with the date, topped with a crown. There are stone and brick flush banding, along with blue brick bands at the impost level, which also form pointed arches over the third-floor lintels. The property includes cast iron area railings and is noted for its group interest with the adjacent church.
