Description
No. 40 Foley Street is a block of tenement flats built around 1903, likely designed by H. Fuller Clark. The building features red brick and stucco with a slate roof, showcasing a Free Style design with some influences from the 'Wrenaissance' style. It stands four storeys tall, with a basement and dormers in the roof, and is three windows wide. The central entrance has a hooded arch and mezzanine stair lights above, framed by a stucco centerpiece that spreads at the top with a parapet that sweeps up. The flanking bays are adorned with mullioned glazing bar casements and sash windows on the upper floors. The brick coping of the parapet is shaped into gables with oculi. Additionally, there are Arts and Crafts style area railings.
