Description

No. 93 is a terrace house located on Great Titchfield Street in Westminster, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of stock brick with a stuccoed ground floor and features a slate roof. It stands four storeys tall with a basement and is three windows wide.

The ground floor has a wide semicircular arched doorway on the left, which contains a six-panel door set within an architrave and flanked by sidelights. Above the door is a reeded door head and a patterned fanlight. The windows are recessed sashes within stucco architraves, with the first-floor windows adorned with rosette friezes and bracketed cornices. The central first-floor window features a segmental pediment. There is a plat band on the first floor with an early 19th-century stucco panel above that is inscribed "PORTLAND CHAMBERS." A stucco modillion cornice runs below the attic storey, and the property is enclosed by wrought iron area railings topped with urn finials.

The interior of the house has seen very little alteration and retains original features such as cornice mouldings, delicate plasterwork on the ceilings, chimneypieces, and a geometrical staircase with a plain wrought iron balustrade that scrolls at the foot.
