Description
No 20 is a terrace house located on St James's Place in Westminster, dating from the late 18th century, though it was largely refronted in a similar style in the early 20th century. The building is constructed of brown brick and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall, with a basement and a dormered mansard roof. The facade has two parts; the left side has three windows, while the right side has one wide window. A central segmental arched doorcase is present, with revealed sashes featuring glazing bars beneath flat rubbed brick gauged arches. The property is adorned with 18th-century wrought iron area railings and an overthrow with a lantern. Inside, there is a stone staircase with a mid-20th-century wrought iron balustrade, while the service stair dates from the late 18th century. The first-floor room is panelled and includes reset 18th-century panelled doors.
